With the pandemic leaving us stuck inside, many people looked for ways to exercise their minds and cure their boredom. Some people took up cooking, some people turned to television, and some people refined their gaming skills. Many games came out this year that was excellent for brain work. Let’s take a look at the best online strategy games of 2020.

First, we have Crusader Kings III. This game puts you in in-depth simulations of medieval politics. You can take over dynasties and defend your land, working to outsmart your opponents. Next is A Total War Saga: Troy. During this game, you use strategy to try to survive the Trojan War. You’ll defend against Agamemnon and wade through the deadly Amazon, all from the comfort of your own home! Third, we have Gear Tactics, a game modeled after an established series but somehow refined to stand out on its own. Strategy fans will love this game and its fun combat.

Desperados is another fun one, and it’s filled with strategy. You embark on various missions with a gang of outlaws and use your different abilities to reach your objectives. Each level feels more and more rewarding. Port Royale 4 places you on a Caribbean island paradise where you build up a colony to fight against the European enemies for total supremacy. There are naval battles and even sea surprises; you’ll have to use your best strategy to survive both. If you want a more novice level game, XCOM: Chimera Squad could be just the speed. There’s human and alien co-operation and a city that’s under threat. There’s also incredible replayability built into the game, making each battle have an infinite possibility of endings.

Command & Conquer Remastered Collection is a game that was initially released in 1995 but is now revamped and back on the top charts. There are new visuals, a new soundtrack, and modifications making the game easier to use. Factorio lets you use resources to tame the planet and fuel a grand machine of your choosing. It’s simple to pick up but very hard to put down! Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is another medieval life strategy game. This one allows you to recruit allies, build armies, and even fall in love! You’ll have to form complex strategies to utilize your character to its full potential. Lastly, Legends of Runeterra is a unique game that lets you see your actions’ consequences before you take them. It’s one of the best card games out there, and it’s perfect for training your brain to think with strategy.
